May 2019 Meeting - Spring has Sprung

Sketchbooks were distributed to members to be used throughout the year for the sketching events or as needed.

Ilona lead the members in a drawing exercise.

Upcoming Events
The Sketch Around Wake Forest member event has been changed from June 15th to June 22nd, when we will be meeting at the Artist Loft in Wake Forest at 10am.

On July 13, members will be doing a photo fun challenge at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Linda would like to offer a book page play-date at the Chavis Center, so we are looking into putting that together.

The Chavis Art Camp is August 19th-22nd.  Any help for this would be greatly appreciated.

Member Challenge #2: A Photo Three Ways
Ilona reminded members about the Photo challenge that is due at the CMMAG meeting on June 13, 2019.  Members have been asked to choose a photo with strong lines and print in color and in either black & white or sepia tones on an 8 1/2 x 11 paper or larger.  The challenge is to make art that replicates the photo exactly in different art media in the same size as the original photo.  This will force you to look at all the different elements that go into making art: line, color, shading, perspective, positive/negative space etc.

Meeting Demonstration
Shannon did a demo on stamp making with foam. It was amazing that with some dollar store dice and a heat gun you can have two new stamps!
